日本軍兵士諸君に告ぐ

Attention, Soldiers of the Japanese Army!

すでに御承知のやくに比島各地に残された日本軍は山岳地帯に退避し、諸君も現在の境遇の下に置かれるやくになって、ルソン島の戦いも殆んど終らうとしています。

As you are already aware, the Japanese forces remaining in various parts of the island have been evacuated to the mountainous areas, and you are now under the current circumstances, and the battle for Luzon is almost over.

そして一方において米軍は前にもまして旺盛な戦闘精神をもって日本本土の爆撃を続行しております、台湾各地は連日爆撃の目標となり、東京、名古屋、神戸各都市の重要軍事施設もまだ爆撃に暴れだされています。

Meanwhile, the U.S. military continues to bomb the Japanese mainland with an even more vigorous fighting spirit than before, with various parts of Taiwan becoming targets of daily bombing raids, and important military facilities in the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kobe are also being bombed.

硫黄島を手中に収めた米軍は更に沖縄島の完全占領を期して敢闘中であり、同島の陥落は時期の問題となりました、戦いは最早比島地区より日本本土に移行したので、諸君は見捨てられた訳です、若し諸君がこの事に対して疑いをもつならば左記の事実に徴してお考え下さい。

With Iwo Jima in our possession, the U.S. forces were now in the midst of a fierce struggle for the total capture of Okinawa, and the fall of the island is only a matter of time, the battle has shifted from the Philippines to the Japanese mainland and you were abandoned, if you have any doubt about this, please consider the following facts.

一、来援を約束された筈の日本軍航空隊は一体どこで何をしているのでしょうか、日の丸をつけた荒鷲は未だ一機でも諸君の頭上を飛翔したことがあるでしょうか。

What is the Japanese air force, which was promised to come to your aid, doing? Has even one wild eagle with the rising sun flag ever flown over your heads?

一、まだ、今春こそは米海軍を撃砕してみせると豪語していた日本海軍は今までどこで何をしていたのでしょうか、日本の艦隊は過日瀬戸内海において米航空部隊により大爆撃を受けたのです

Where was the Japanese Navy, which had been bragging that it would crush the U.S. Navy this spring, and what had it been doing? The Japanese fleet had been heavily bombed by U.S. air forces in the Seto Inland Sea.

諸君はこれ以上、迷妄な上官達の戦争の狂言に惑はされないで、日本の将来のため、戦後の「平和鄕日本の再建」に役立つという大乗的な観点に立って何とかして生残る事を考えてみて下さい。

Please do not be misled any longer by the war rhetoric of your deluded superiors, for the future of Japan, please consider surviving somehow from the broader perspective of helping to "rebuild Peaceful Japan" after the war.

現在諸君に残された唯一の途であり、同時に最大の義務は国家の将来のために大切な命を全うすることです、愛する祖国日本の將来に想いをいたし、万難を乗り越える各人一人でも多く生き延びる努力をする事です皆樣の自愛を祈って止みません。

The only way left to you now, and at the same time your greatest duty, is to fulfill your precious lives for the future of your nation, to think of the future of your beloved homeland Japan, I wish you all the best in your endeavors to overcome all difficulties with the hope that as many of you as possible will survive.
