I was surprised at the unexpected hospitality, which was very different from Japanese propaganda.
In particular, the extremely thorough treatment of the wounded made me keenly aware that only your country, which prides itself on its material civilization, would be able to do such a thing.
The kindness of the crew members, especially the medical officer and other medics, made me feel as if I were not in an enemy country, but rather as if I had known them for a hundred years or more.
Thank you very much.
I hope to convey this wonderful fact to Japan (and the world) as soon as possible, and long for the return of world peace.
In closing, I would like to offer my best wishes to the crew and their families.
