Time is running out!
Ladies and gentlemen! Mainland Japan is now facing an unprecedented crisis.
The military, which had been crying out "victory is inevitable" at the outbreak of the war, became dismayed at the worsening of the war situation, and began to complain "Victory or annihilation? They are asking the people to make new sacrifices, while putting their own responsibility on the back burner.
The U.S. military is very sympathetic to those of you who have suffered the ravages of daily air raids, as you are now seeing, but we must carry on an even more intense campaign until the military, which has trampled on the "future of the nation and the happiness of its people," is completely overthrown. However your leaders can, with a single decision, either lead Japan back to the peace it once enjoyed, or plunge it into a catastrophic ruin never seen before in its history.
Unconditional surrender" is simply a military term that means the cessation of war and the collapse of the military. The military leadership, however, has been actively advertising that this means the enslavement of the people and the eradication of the nation. This is nothing more than a last-ditch effort by the military, eager to save its own face, to rouse the people to desperate defiance in the final moments of the war.
Can you stand by and watch as the military, fearing responsibility for its own defeat, waves off the hand of peace extended to it and plunges Japan into ruin?
Ladies and Gentlemen! Let us save ourselves from total ruin and work to rebuild a new Japan while we still can.
