帰ってわが国のことを考へると、日本にとっても蘭印を失うことは、今日の近代戦、いはゆる生産しつつ戦争を継続することが、実際上非常困難になる。

When I think about my country, the loss of the Dutch East Indies would make it extremely difficult for Japan to continue modern warfare, or so-called “war of production”.

したがつて日本にとってもこの南方の争奪戦こそは大東亜戦争における大眼目だといえる。

As a result, it can be said that the struggle for control of this southern region is the most important aspect of the Greater East Asian War for Japan.
