戦争をしている時には我々は案外お互いに相手の気持を良く理解せずまた余り深く考えようとしないものです。

When we are at war with each other, it is surprising that we do not understand each other's feelings well or try to think about them deeply.

今仮に諸君が米国軍側に来られたとしたならば今まで想像にも及なかった色々な事に接し認識を新たにするのではないでしょか、例えば次の写真に現はれている様なことが一つの例です。

If you were to come to the U.S. military side now, you would be exposed to many things that you could never have imagined before giving you a new awareness, such as what you see in the following pictures.

昭和四年七月二十七日ジユネーブにおいて俘虜取扱に関し二十九ヶ国代表により調印を見たる国際協定には次の箇條がある

The International Agreement on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, signed at Geneva on July 27, 1929, by representatives of twenty-nine countries, contains the following articles.

第二条　俘虜はつねに人道的待遇を受くべきものなり。

Article 2 Prisoners of war shall always receive humane treatment.

第十一条　食料は留守部隊の物に等しかるべき事。

Article 11 Food should be equal to that of the garrisoned troops.

第十四条　各収容所には被収容者用病室の設置ある事を要す。

Article 14 Each POW camp shall be required to have hospital rooms for inmates.

人種が違っても言葉が違っても互に了解するものは唯誠である。

Even if we are of different races and speak different languages, the one thing we mutually understand is sincerity.
