米国帰りの人々に尋ねて御覧なさい

Ask the people who returned from the U.S.

皆さん方の中には必ず誰かアメリカ帰りの方がいられるでしょう。

I am sure there will be someone among you who has come back from the US.

そのような方をちょっと脇え手招いて尋ねてご覧なさい。

Invite such a person aside for a moment and ask him or her.

無論警察の思想課の人々がいない時にですそしてその方に「米国は如何程の大工業国であるか。その大工業は如何程の能率を発揮し得るや？その重工業より流れ出る航空機は如何程優秀であるか？」と尋ねてご覧なさい。

Of course, this is when the people of the police thought section were not around, and ask them, "How big an industrial nation is the United States? How efficient is its industry? How good are the airplanes that come out of that heavy industry?"

するとその米国帰りの方はきつと頭を頷くに相違ありません。

The person returned from the U.S. will surely nod their head.

したら皆様方の胸にはまた質問が起るでしょう。

Then more questions will arise in your minds.

「今米国は当戦争遂行のためその巨大なる工業の全能力を挙げて軍需品の製産に従事しているならば、かく軍備された米国に対してどうして日本が勝てよう？」と。

“If the U.S. is now engaged in the manufacture of war materials with all of its massive industrial capacity in order to prosecute this war, how can Japan win against a well-equipped U.S.?”

その方が正直な方であるならば、必ず、「その事に就いては心配で夜もろくし寝られない。」と答えるでしょう。

If that person is honest, they will surely reply, "I can't sleep at night because I am so worried about that."

例えば皆様方の中で米国フォード会社を実地見学され、ある日は当会社の事を読まれた方があるでしょう。

For example, some of you may have visited the Ford Motor Company in the U.S. and read about the company on a particular day.

このフォード会社の無数の工場は今昼夜兼行で超重爆撃機を作っているのです。

しかも洪水の如く流れ出で来るこれらの超重爆撃機は直接工場より日本国土を爆撃して安全に帰還出来るような秘密飛行機地へ飛んで行っているのです。

Moreover, these super heavy bombers that come pouring out like a flood are flying directly from factories to secret airfields where they can bomb the land of Japan and return safely home.

当戦争において戦略上日本軍部の頭痛の種子は即ち日本の重工業は米国爆撃機の廻航圏内にあるに反して、米国の主要工業地は日本の飛行機には届かない事なのです。

The strategic headache for the Japanese military during the war is that Japan's heavy industry are within the range of U.S. bombers, while major U.S. industrial sites are out of reach of Japanese planes.

ですから米国の爆撃機は日本国土を空より襲撃して無事に帰還出来ますが、続効力の劣等な日本の飛行機は米国重要工業地の遠く大陸内に散在せる為、襲いことが出来ないのです。

Thus, while U.S. bombers can attack Japan from the air and return safely, Japanese planes with inferior endurance cannot because they are scattered across the American continent, far from important U.S. industrial sites.

これ即ち日本軍部の悩みであり、またその必滅の原因なのですピッツバーグの廣大なる諸工場の製産品は唯一つなのです。

This is the very problem of the Japanese military and the cause of its inevitable destruction: the vast factories in Pittsburgh produce only one product.

しかもビッツバーグの無数の製造所は九州八幡の製鉄所の幾倍もの大きさを容しているのです。

Moreover, the myriad of manufacturing plants in Pittsburgh are many times the size of the steel mill in Yawata, Kyushu.

かのシボレー自動車を製造していた有名なるゼネラルモータース会社は、その全能力を挙げて軍器を製造しているのです。

The famous General Motors Company, manufacturer of the Chevrolet automobile, is producing military equipment to the fullest extent of its capabilities.

斯くの如さ例は今一々枚挙に遑がありませんが一つ残らずただ日本軍部の根絶を目的として邁進しているのです。

There are too many examples to list, but every single one of them is aimed solely at the destruction of the Japanese military.

故に日本軍部の破滅は必然です。

Hence, the destruction of the Japanese military is inevitable.
