小磯内閣総辞職

Koiso Cabinet resigns

小磯大将を首相とする内閣は四月五日総辞職した、と同盟通信社は報じた。

General Koiso's cabinet resigned on April 5, the Doumei news agency reported.

総辞職の原因は「戦局の重大性」といはれているのみである。

The only reason given for the resignation was "the gravity of the war situation.

陛下は男爵鈴木貫太郎海軍大将に新内閣結成を御下命あらせられた。

His Majesty ordered Admiral Baron Kantaro Suzuki to form a new cabinet.

小磯内閣は九ヶ月職に在り、其間連合軍にサイパン、フィリピンの大半、硫黄島を占領され、南西諸島へ上陸されたのである。

The Koiso Cabinet had been in office for nine months, during which time the Allied Forces occupied Saipan, most of the Philippines, and Iwo Jima, and landed on the Ryukyu Islands.

Soviet-Japanese Nonaggression Pact ends

モスコーよりの公式発表によれば、ソヴイエツト政府は一九四一年四月、日ソ間に調印された不可侵条約を終了する旨日本へ通告した。

According to the official announcement from Moscow, the Soviet government notified Japan of the termination of the non-aggression pact signed between Japan and the Soviet Union in April 1941.
