日本軍と交戦中の大英帝国軍隊は捕虜の待遇に関する条項を日本兵士に徹底せしむえく茲に犯すへからさる国際公法に則り現在捕虜待遇公約条令の重なるものを明らかにする。

The British Imperial Army, which was engaged in war with the Japanese Army, has made it clear that in accordance with public international law, it is now the duty of the British Imperial Army to ensure that Japanese soldiers comply with the provisions regarding the treatment of prisoners of war, and to clarify the overlapping provisions of the current treaty on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

左記の基本的原則は「ビルマ」戦區にて捕虜となれる日本軍兵士に対する大英帝国政府の待遇を專ら決するものにして一九〇四年ノ「ヘーグ」協約並ヒに一九二七年七月二十七日「ジエ子バ」にて二十九ヶ国の調印せる国際會議捕虜待遇條項に基づくもなり

The basic principle of the above statement is based on the "Hague Agreement" of 1900, and the POW Treatment Clause of the International Convention signed by 29 countries at "Geneva" on July 27, 1927, which is to be used by the British Imperial Government to determine the treatment of Japanese soldiers taken prisoner in the "Burma" War Zone.

第一、 敵對行動を中止し投降せる兵は直ちに捕虜と認め「ジエ子バ」協約の保護下に移さる従って軍人たる名誉な尊重重しのこれを毀損すえからする。

First, Soldiers who cease action against the enemy and surrender shall be immediately recognized as prisoners of war and placed under the protection of the "Geneva" agreement, and their military honor shall therefore be respected and not be damaged.

第二、 捕虜はどうなる際モ人情を以て取扱い特に暴力行為侮辱公衆の忌惮なきよう保護を加ふえし捕虜に対する復讐的行為は厳禁する。

Second, Prisoners of war shall be treated with humanity, and in particular, protection shall be provided against acts of violence, insults, and public scorn, and vengeful acts against prisoners of war shall be strictly prohibited.

第三、 捕虜は管轄軍と同種同量の食糧を得えて傷痍は同等の病院にて加療を受くえし

Third, prisoners of war shall receive the same kind and quantity of food as the troops in charge over them, and those who are wounded or injured shall receive equivalent medical treatment at a hospital.

第四、 捕虜収容所内の寝室寝臺設備其の他の管轄軍のものと同樣たるえし

Fourth, The sleeping quarters and sleeping facilities in the POW camps shall be the same as those of the military units in charge of the prisoners of war.

第五、 捕虜は信仰の自由を与えらるえし

Fifth Prisoners of war shall be granted freedom of religion.

第六、 交戦国は捕虜に対し読書体育の完全なる設備を施すえし

Sixth, The belligerents shall provide prisoners of war with complete facilities for reading and physical education.
